Municipal solid waste generation in Phnom Penh has steadily increased after the civil war in 1979. Currently, Cambodia, particular Phnom Penh, is focused on methods to reduce greenhouse gas emission from the waste sector. In the actual situation, all the municipal solid wastes are dumped into landfill without any gases captured for electricity generation. GHG emission in this paper was calculated based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to estimate the GHG emission from municipal solid waste in Phnom Penh in 2009.
